Mozzie was a very special boy, and even though I had him for 12 years, 6 months, and 12 days, it wasn't enough. He taught me many things about how to be a better teammate. He was a gentle soul who made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed most things in life, and his favorite was using his nose -- on walks and in Nosework and Scent Work trials. From five-mile walks in his younger years to strolls to the mailbox and back in his final months, he loved going on walks with me. We were connected souls, and I miss him every day.

CH Hickory's Hidden Throwback to the Bay

The Leudemann Family

At 13.5 years young, Blanket Rocketship holds a remarkable place in our hearts and in the world of BMDs. As one of the breed’s oldest, Blanket has shared with us years of unconditional love, a legacy that goes beyond titles and accolades. His striking good looks is outshined only by a gentle soul, a regal charm, and a brilliant mind that continues to amaze us. In his prime, Blanket captured admiration in the show ring but his true gifts extended beyond the spotlight. As a certified Pet Partners therapy dog, Blanket brought comfort to children coping with traumatic loss and shared quiet moments of connection with elderly patients as a therapy dog, spreading a warmth that only a Bernese with his kindness and politeness could offer. Every day with Blanket is a blessing, each moment a gift that deepens our gratitude. We owe endless thanks to his breeder, Amy Tucker, whose commitment to ethical breeding, with health and longevity at the forefront, has given us the profound joy of living with this wonderful spirit as he enters his 14th year. Blanket’s presence reminds us that love, at its best, is unconditional—and he has given that to us in boundless measure. Blanket Rocketship is, and always will be, loved beyond words.

Roxy is doing well. She just saw her new veterinarian, since she has outlasted her prior one who retired recently. She’s very happy the cooler weather is rolling in now! Roxy’s “big (human) sister” was here from Utah for a long weekend a couple weeks ago and she was sooo excited to see her. She even tried to rough house with Sydney a little, which she hasn’t done in quite some time. Barking, bulldozing Syd, and she even tried to hop a bit even though her arthritic legs will not allow for much of that. The picture enclosed is of Roxy finishing water therapy.

Anne Nichols

Boojum had a wonderful, full life. Her first 7 years she lived with Denise -training and trialing successfully in many venues, but she really excelled in tracking. Boo loved to sniff and that carried over to much success in nosework. Denise and I mutually agreed that Boo should live with me the second half of her life - to live surrounded by hundreds of acres were Boo could do what she loved most: running full out, off leash, playing with my other dogs and rolling and digging to her hearts content. Boo loved both her lives and both her people and it was a great honor and blessing to have her come back to me to deeply enjoy her final 5 years. I took her final photos only 3 days before she passed on her own. Boojum was an exceptional soul. Anne Nichols and Denise Peck

Wyndrift's Bless His Heart

Deborah Fraktman

This last photo of Humphrey was taken by Diana Wells Pearson at her house just a couple of days before he crossed the bridge, just 8 days before his 12th birthday. Mark wound up in the hospital and it took a couple of days to figure out what to do with Humphrey when Mark got transferred to a hospital over 2 hours away. His breeders Chan and Tracey Keith offered for Chan to drive 8 hours and stay with him or take him to their house for a while. They have been amazing over the years since he came to me as a 3 yr old with issues. Auntie D had thrown her back out, but said she would take him for a few days until I could find out how serious Mark's hospital stay would be. Humphrey was so excited for a car trip to see his favorite person and her dogs. He settled in well. He jumped out of the car instead of letting me help him. I think he jarred his back a bit then, though he had been falling some at home for the last few weeks. After I left he was wandering in the yard and got his hind l feet up on some cinder blocks and his front feet on the ground. The strain was too much for his back. D had to help him into the house, where he collapsed in her dining room. He did bite her the next day because of pain. I wasn't able to get back to him until a day later. He was so happy to see me, chirped hello and told me he was ready to go home. I couldn't get him up either and lifted his front end to take him to carpet, he still couldn't stand ,so I put him on the combat carry stretcher. He was in pain and tensed but didn't try to bite me. I had already put a muzzle on him. He was in enough pain that he wanted to bite everyone that tried to help him. It was with a heavy heart I made the decision to help him over the bridge. Especailly when the vet found heavy arthritis damage to his left back leg, something that hadn't shown up the last vet visit in Nov,or his last chiropratic visit last fall. I couldn't ask staff to work with him in that much pain at a time I couldn't be there to help. The vet did say afterward that the only thing he was dying from was old age. Arthritis was the one thing he found. He was a wonderful boy and lived his best life after coming to live with us. A month before all this the plumber was working outside and knocked on the door. Humphrey didn't even bark. The plumber hurried in before I could tell him to let me put Humphrey up. The plumber didn't nocie him until he turned around to see what sniffed his backside. When the ambulance crew came in the house for my husband Mark, I'd already taken down the xpen, since Humphrey hadn't used it in over a year. I put him in the dining room with a tiny rolling cart in the center of the opening, a good foot or more of room on each side. He barked a couple of times and then just stood back and watched them help Mark to the seat carry stretcher. Years of training and working with him paid off. He is greatly missed and was my 3rd heart dog out of 7 berners since 1993

Hickory's Nixie Knox

The Laird Family

Heidi got her father's breed type, huge feet and coat, and loving nature and her mother's bomb-proof queen of the universe temperament. As such, she was full of spunk and young at heart for her whole life. She went to exactly two dog shows in her life -- the first a Regional Specialty a month after her 11th birthday and the second was the National Specialty when she was 11.5. Nobody could believe that she was over 11 and these were her first dogs shows. She looked and moved like a young dog and she showed like a seasoned Champion and she thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. Heidi loved her toys and was always up for a game of tug or a local hike. In the summer, her favorite activity was to sneak off for a wade in the ditch to get really smelly. She ruled our land with (mostly) quiet reserve, always greeting her local friends that went by and alerting us when a delivery arrived. She trained her Berner brother Bruno to all that life at our little homestead entailed, save the ditch diving! Memories of Heidi will always bring a smile. She was greatly loved and is dearly missed.

He spent his days taking walks, snoozing in the sunshine, and cuddling. Chewy left me the day after Labor Day, missing his 12th birthday by just a few weeks, but oh, what a wonderful twelve years we had together! He loved with wild abandon! Thanks to Christine and Michael Mann (Gramma and Grandpa), and his beautiful mama, Landen (and daddy Vinny) for bringing him into the world and to me. We loved being her humans for the 2 years we had her. She was the BEST ambassador for the breed and a great older influence on Enzo (BG# 210217). We miss you every day Nelly Belly!

Sweet Gigee Spelniony Sen

Holly S. Tonero

From the day she arrived from Poland she has ruled the home with a stubbornness that is 2nd to none and we wouldn't have it any other way. Diagnosed with kidney disease at 2, our dreams of being our foundation bitch and show girl was out the window. That didn't matter though because this girl has brought us so much joy, laughter and love and her longevity is better than any ribbons she ever could have achieved. Keevah is a Daddy's girl to the core and to see her eyes sparkle and light up when she sees my husband makes me smile. We have been blessed to be owned by this beautiful Polish Princess ans thank her breeder Magdalena Szłapa for entrusting us with her care and love for the last 11 plus years.

Harmony’s Fool, I’m a Woman

Deena Tanel

Abbie is our first Berner. At 11 yrs 5 months, she is a bit slower than she use to be, but she still loves our daily walk with our 3 younger Berners. She still gets after the younger ones, showing them still she is the queen of the house.

LeClair's Jet City Baker

Holly Horner

Baker has always been the life of the party and has always had a lot to say. He dealt with lung cancer two years ago and is now cancer free. He's always had a thing for blondes and even at 11.5 still rubbernecks when he sees a golden retriever.

Elsuli’s Not Ready to make Nice

Mary Pearson

Dixie has been keeping us on our toes for 11 1/2 years! In her younger years, she was agile and goofy. As she matured, she turned into a lovely show dog, attentive mother, and firm pack leader. She a little slower to get up now, but lets us know exactly what she wants with her very loud voice. She is the heart of our home.

BISS NOHS BIS GCHS Blumoon's Certified Organic CD RN CGC TKN NDD

Melissa Olson

Queen Nora Belle Olson has no idea how old she is and we sure aren't going to tell her! Nora has been the most amazing and life changing dog we never expected. This dog continues to teach us more and more, especially about what senior dogs are capable of. As a 10 year old Berner, Nora earned 2 AOMs at different regional specialties (6 months apart), and now as an 11 year old has notched some pretty spectacular life achievements after overcoming a hematoma on her spleen and a hip dislocation. Nora teaches us that it's important to dream big and NEVER underestimate the will and strength of a dog's heart and soul. We feel incredibly grateful for all the time and experiences we have been given with this dog, hope and pray for more of it, and will never be able to thank Christine and Michael Mann adequately for placing Ms White with us. -Carl and Melissa Olson

Villairns Mid Summers Moon

Sara Selthofer

Luna was such a sweet, fun loving and goofy addition to our family. We were blessed with Luna when she came to our home at just over 1 year old. Luna loved people more than other dogs; however, when she came into our household, we already had one other Berner, Bosco, and she did ADORE him. Luna really struggled when Bosco left us at the age of 10. This just shows the big heart that Luna had. Luna later had two other Berner companions in the house – Winston and Remington. Luna ruled the house, and only gave them the time of day when she felts like it! Luna was a beautiful Berner, with striking white features, that were almost “perfect”, I would say. She was super fluffy, which made her look bigger than her 120lb stature. Luna loved to stroll in the yard and sniff like crazy. She was a “leaner” and would follow up with a flop for plenty of belly rubs! She had a goofy run, that we loved. We loved our Loonie Lu so much, and our home was so blessed having her in it for over 10 years. We thank her amazing breeders and my Aunt Karen and Uncle Harry for allowing us the honor to have Luna in our lives.

Coburg Hills Thunder and Lightning

Deborah Behr

Thor is a confident and adventurous Berner. Thor was a rescue/rehome when he was 5 years old. Thor quickly and completely melded with our family and pack. Thor is quite social. Thor enjoys greeting other dogs on his walks, but his biggest joy is meeting people.

Arundel’s Xxena at Lakes Edge

Susan Brightman

Xena continues to do well despite her age, romping with her Berner buddies. She’s always been an especially well-behaved, sweet girl. She obtained her CGC certification and is commonly used as a neutral dog in training class because she is so calm. Her vice is to chase deer, still a thrill for her.

Lexie is 11 1/2 years old and living her best life on our small farm in Texas. She’s spoiled rotten in the best of ways and is treated every day like the queen of the house that she is. We love her so very much and are grateful for every day we have with her!

Coburg Hills My Dream Come True CGC, CD, RE, OJP, OAP, TKN, FDC, NDD, WD, AD

Shirley Didier

Maya has been a challenge and a joy. She loves walks/hikes in the woods now that competing is over. As she ages and finds it harder to get around, she still runs in for breakfast, finds things to eat she shouldn’t and persistently insists on being petted. I have learned so much about training, dog sports, and dog people because of her. I am forever grateful for her leading the way.

Bekkee was an eye catcher from the beginning, sweet attitude and flawless movement. She has always been an easy to live with girl, just fitting into your life without a fuss. I'm so greatful to Bev Cechman for taking such good care of Bekkee's mom Fern and having such a nice litter out of Knox so I could have Bekkee.

GCH CH Thorncreek's Center of Gravity CGC CGCA

Heather Austin

Isaac continues to be an absolute joy to live with and is fully in charge of everything that happens in our home. He still loves to go on adventures, whether a road trip, a visit to the barn or just to see the vet. Since we moved to Florida he has taken up a new hobby of "swimming," which is actually lounging on the pool steps. He can't quite manage to jump up on the bed to wake me up anymore, but he does get his front paws up every morning and greets me with kisses and a pat with a paw if I'm too slow to respond. Nothing makes me happier than waking up to his sweet face.

Powder Keg Farm's Hidden Treasure

Catherine Oliver

Sasha was the love of my life, the true party girl who was always smiling. She was always up for a good time and ready to go swimming, for a hike or a ride in the car. She had two beautiful litters of puppies and was such a loving mother to them all. Her happy presence is greatly missed at the ranch.
